Apartment-level water metering

Remotely readable apartment-level water meters are mandatory in new buildings and in properties that undergo plumbing renovation.

By decree of the Ministry of the Environment, apartment-level water meters have been mandatory in new buildings since 2011. The aim of the regulation is to reduce water consumption and energy needed to heat domestic water. The new EU Energy Efficiency Directive, which entered into force in late 2019, requires the installation of remotely readable water meters in new buildings and in properties undergoing plumbing renovation. Advanced remote reading systems enable property managers to monitor consumption through our web-based HYDROLINK Online service. Residents can also monitor their consumption in the Oma Hydrolink service. With real-time data, it is easier to make informed choices about consumption habits.
