A remote-controlled fire detector automatically notifies the property owner, property manager or maintenance company of the need to service or replace the fire detector.

Responsibility for the purchase and maintenance of fire detectors is transferred from the resident to the housing company or property owner. The transitional period under the Act, which entered into force on 1 January 2024, is 2 years. Housing companies, rental housing companies and other property owners are responsible for ensuring that there are enough fire detectors in homes and public areas and that they are kept in working order. There is no need for manual maintenance checks on remote-controlled fire detectors as the system will notify you of any faults or when the battery is running low.

There must be one fire detector for every 60 m2 or part thereof, and at least one on each residential floor. Instructions for placing fire detectors can be found here: https://www.spek.fi/turvallisuus/paloturvallinen-taloyhtio/palovaroittimien-sijoittelu. A correctly placed fire detector will act as quickly as possible in the event of a fire and give valuable time to those in danger.

Koka Oy’s range includes remote-controlled fire detectors with fixed power supply as well as battery-powered ones. Fire alarms can be connected to the same system as, for example, water meters.

Fire alarms with fixed power supply are used in all new buildings. They can also be installed in place of existing fire detectors.
